CCA points & School team matters
posted on: 19 May 2010
Hi all bowlers, and hi committee members, let me post a few things. I have not discusse any point I’m mentioning here to committee members yet, my apologies. I didn’t have time to meet up with you all yet. Hope you all do read this.( Third point important)
1) CCA point wise, no worries as all bowlers seems to have good records and good amount of CCA point.
2) Being selected for school team training currently doesn’t mean one will be bowling for polite, we will be conducting another trial nearer to polite date, by then the number of guys and girls will drop to 10~12. This applies to me and all members too. So we hope all bowlers will feel fair for this. Those in the LTB(learn to bowl session) don't think that’s the end for you all. We will be going down regularly and monitoring your progress. If we see great potential and improvement, you too will be asked to join the school team training. But of course the above dropping out of school team applies too to chosen bowlers. Besides this way, bowlers can prove your skills out at events we host or events SPB are invited to join. Consistence good results too will be considered for school team. Therefore, SPB club hopes all members to strive hard regardless of being in team or club.
3) Third, because of the schedule of SPGG bowling alley, i propose we start training on Sat 4~6 first at SPGG. We, the team have been very slack on training already. This arrangement is for the time being only. Give me a few more weeks to work out with Westbowl. Most probably we will be moving our training to Westbowl, beside Clementi stadium, direct bus 196 from opp spgg. I hereby would need all school team players to give feedbacks on 1) sat training @ spgg and 2) the moving out to Westbowl probably one weekday 6.30~8.30 and one on sat.
*School team includes: All ex polite participants, all selected bowlers on this coming sat, and all girl bowlers who wants to be in the school team. (All girls are now selected to be in the school team, no trials required just commit) [*this commitment includes attending trainings and buying of own bowling equipments, No worries about price there are cheap ones/second hand ones too.*] Equipment wise please do approach our coaches or committee members for more details, please don't let this factor affect your chance to perform and win for the school. Many girls quit because of this factor. Yes bowling is expensive but ....
*Westbowl address : 12 West Coast Walk, Singapore 127157
4) Lastly for those who never bowled in Pol-Ite event before, let me give you a rough idea on it.
It is a one day event consisting 8 games. 4 in the morning and 4 after lunch. First event is doubles, second event is the team event. After all 8 games is completed, the total of this 8 games will be combined to give a total pinfall for the event singles. 8 boys and 8 girls will be selected to represent their schools. Usually 8~9am to about 5pm on a sat around October.
5) To get distinction for CCA. We not only need to accumulate great amount of CCA points, but also have leadership points and community service points. Therefore I’m also proposing for a community service event, hopefully we can get to go overseas for this event. I too need feedback on this, whether you all wants to join, whether overseas is good idea or staying in Singapore is better.
Thanks for your support to SPB club. I hope we can train together and have lots of fun.
Derrick. (your team captain for "now")
